Medway Development set to deliver two schemes

Date posted 08/12/2023

Medway Development Company – which is wholly owned by Medway Council – is set to redevelop prime spots in Medway. The company’s first two developments – Garrison Point and Chatham Waterfront – will deliver a total of 94 Build to Rent homes alongside 203 homes for sale.

Situated on a former military site, Garrison Point comprises 23 Build to Rent homes alongside nine for shared ownership and 83 for open market sale. The 23 Build to Rent homes are fully furnished two-bedroom and two-bathroom apartments, which will be available on the market shortly.

Separated into four separate entrance cores, all with their own lift, every home benefits from a private balcony and is finished with an above average specification for the area. All appliances including dishwasher and washer drier are included. Medway Development is offering initial tenancies from one to three years, with prices starting from £1,550 per month.

Ranging from floors three to seven, the apartments all benefit from views of the river Medway to the front and the Great Lines Heritage Park to the rear. The scheme is also under five minutes from the town centre, which offers a wide variety of shops and eateries, and the local train station, which can provide a reasonable commute to London St Pancras within 38 minutes on the high-speed link.

Garrison Point is also a short distance away from the Kent Downs Area of Natural Beauty, which stretches all the way to the south coast near Dover. Local amenities nearby include the Chatham Snowsports Centre, The Strand Leisure Park and open-air lido, and the Buckmore Park Kart Circui

On-site facilities at Garrison Point includes a secure main entrance door leading to the lobby area with durable carpeting floor finish, secure bicycle storage facilities, private landscaped communal gardens, and parking on selected properties for an additional cost.

The homes are available to rent via the developer’s local agent Acorn (part of the Leaders Romans Group).

We are really proud of the work we are doing to regenerate and revitalise Chatham and we understand that the only way to create balanced and sustainable communities is through the delivery of mixed tenure developments that not only provide safe, modern, energy efficient homes across all tenures but commercial properties which create employment opportunities for local people.
David Gannicott, Chairman, Medway Development Company

Chatham Waterfront comprises 71 Build to Rent homes and 111 homes for open market sale split across five buildings with brand new commercial space on the ground floor. Amenities include 9,375 sqm of commercial space, a secure cycle store, landscaped garden areas, app-based video entry system, secure entry and a Resident Car Club.

The homes will be complete between June and September 2024 and come with some brand-new public realm for all Medway residents and visitors to enjoy. The Build to Rent homes will comprise studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. The developer has ensured that all homes at Chatham Waterfront have been designed to a sustainable standard

Located less than a 40-minute train journey away from Central London, the Chatham Waterfront scheme is ideal for commuters. Local to the development sits The Pentagon shopping centre with over 70 shops and leisure facilities, and the Dockside outlet.

For those who enjoy sports and outdoor activities, the nearby parks offer kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, and paddle-boarding at the Chatham Maritime Watersports Centre, including jet-skiing and even scuba diving.

Medway Council is committed to redeveloping the five Medway Towns in a way that is sympathetic to each individual town’s identity. Because of this, the area continues to benefit from high levels of inward investment.
