Medway Development Company (MDC) is proud to announce it has been shortlisted at this year’s Build to Rent Awards, hosted by Love to Rent, in three categories: ‘Social Value Impact in BTR’ for its regeneration work at Chatham Waterfront, and two in the ‘Build to Rent Partnership’ category alongside LRG and Base Furnishings Ltd.
Chatham Waterfront is a landmark regeneration project, delivering high-quality new homes for private renters, while embedding strong social value principles at its core. The development has transformed the local landscape, creating not only new homes but also enhanced retail opportunities and the public realm.
Sustainability is central to the scheme, with initiatives such as onsite electric cars, free car club membership, EV charging points and air source heat pumps. In addition, MDC has created a welcoming public realm at The Paddock, a beautifully landscaped space with planting and seating, offering a relaxing retreat in the heart of Chatham.
“We are incredibly proud to see Chatham Waterfront recognised in this way. This project is about more than just delivering homes, it’s about creating sustainable communities, supporting local businesses, and improving quality of life for residents and the wider Medway community.”
“Our mission is to deliver high-quality housing with a focus on creating sustainable communities that support economic development” added Lewis Small, Managing Director – Medway Development Company. “Chatham Waterfront demonstrates how Build to Rent can deliver lasting positive social impact, not just through homes but by strengthening community connections and enhancing the local area.”
MDC is delighted to see Chatham Waterfront recognised as an exemplar project and is extremely proud of the entire team’s dedication to delivering regeneration that makes a difference.
The winners of the Build to Rent Awards will be announced on Friday 24 October 2025 at The Londoner, Leicester Square.
